Spray tanning is a sunless tanning method that involves spraying a fine mist containing dihydroxyacetone (DHA) onto the skin.
Spray tanning is FDA approved for external use and is considered a safe way to achieve a tan without the risks of sun exposure. However, the tanning product doesn't contain SPF, so it won't protect you from the sun.
DHA is a colourless sugar-based product that reacts with amino acids and proteins in the skin's top layer, causing a chemical reaction that darkens the skin.
The tan develops between 2–8 hours, depending how dark you want the tan. After which you shower to wash off the guide colour.
Spray tans typically last 7–10 days, However, this will depend on how often you shower.
